Save your firm’s rules the day you buy

Firms update their rules and help pages, sometimes weekly. If a breach or a payout is ever questioned, the useful question is what the rules said when you bought. Five minutes on day one answers it.

What to save

  • The rules for your exact account: drawdown type and amount, daily limit, profit target.
  • The consistency rule, and which stage it applies to.
  • The payout rules: qualifying days, buffer, limits, how often you can request.
  • The prohibited-conduct page: hedging, copying, devices, news.

How to save it

  1. Print each page to PDF. Your browser’s Print, then “Save as PDF”, usually stamps the date and web address on the page.
  2. Name the files clearly, for example: firm, account size, date.
  3. Keep support answers. If you ask a question in chat or by email, save or export the reply with its date.
  4. Copy the key numbers onto your rulebook, in the firm’s own words, with the date you read them. The one-page rulebook has a “read on” line for exactly this.

Check again before a payout

Before you request a payout, open the current pages and compare them with your saved copy. If something changed, you’ll know before you click, not after. The payout-day check then tells you whether the request clears.

This isn’t about catching anyone out

Most rule changes are firms tidying up wording or adding detail. Saving a copy just means you and the firm are reading the same version when it matters.
