What's in it
- One row per trade, 500 rows. Date, setup, long or short, contract, contracts, entry, stop, exit, result, notes.
- Planned risk worked out for you from your entry, stop and contracts. Dollars per point are built in for 12 contracts: MNQ, NQ, MES, ES, MYM, YM, M2K, RTY, MGC, GC, MCL and CL.
- Result in R (the result divided by the risk you planned) and a running total.
- "Followed rules?" Yes or No on every trade, and which rule broke when it's No.
- A check on each row that flags a stop on the wrong side, or a result that doesn't match your entry and exit.
- A small summary: trades logged, total result, and how many trades followed your rules.
Why a "Followed rules?" column
A trade can win and still break your rules. Marked Yes or No against the rules you wrote down before the trade, not by whether it won, your log shows how often you trade your plan. That's the one number you can change directly.
When you want more
The Journal & Workbook ($39) uses the same Trade Log columns, so your rows move across in one paste. It adds your win-rate range (not just one number), the win rate you need to break even, what breaking your rules did to your results in dollars, results by setup, drawdown runway, a dashboard and a calendar, plus an 18-page printable workbook.
Is it really free?
Yes. No card, no trial. It's yours to use for your own trading.
Does it work in Google Sheets?
Yes. Upload the file to Google Drive and open it with Google Sheets, or open it in Excel. It uses formulas only, no macros.
Is the planned risk right for my contract?
It uses the exchange's dollars per point for the 12 contracts listed. For other contracts, see the futures tick value calculator, and confirm with your broker.
Does it tell me what to trade?
No. It keeps score of what you did. It has no market data and no opinion on any trade.
Educational material only. Not investment advice. Trading futures involves substantial risk of loss and many people who try it lose money. Check your account rules with your firm; they change.
